$12.5 Million Pedestrian and Cycling Lanes Approved for Granville Bridge in Vancouver

October 4, 2020 - Vancouver City council recently approved $12.5-million to improve safety and access for pedestrians and cyclists for trips over False Creek by re-allocating two of eight lanes for them on the Granville Street Bridge reports Vancouver Is Awesome.

“Providing safe, sustainable, and accessible ways to cross the bridge is essential, particularly in light of a growing city and region facing a climate crisis,” said Mayor Kennedy Stewart.

The cost for the Granville Street Connector for the 66-year-old bridge, the first phase of the project, dropped from an initial $25 million due to the financial pressures of the COVID-19 pandemic.
