by Barry Lyster

February 24, 2020 - As a world leader in off-road vehicles, Jeep plans to enter the electric bicycle market with the upcoming release of it’s Jeep eBike Powered by QuietKat. Their Super Bowl “Ground Hog Day” commercial with Bill Murray announcing the move did not go unnoticed and peaked the interest of many in the e-bike community.

Jeep has partnering with e-bike company Quietkat to produce their new ride. The Fire-Link full suspension frame appears to use a RockShox rear shock with an inverted front fork. Massive 4.8 inch tires, thru-axels and Tektro Dorado 4-piston hydraulic disc brakes support a bike capable of conquering a variety of off -road terrain.

Jeep states that their new eBike uses a 750-watt motor which is reported a Bafang Ultra M620. If correct, this is one powerful beast of a motor, able to produce 1600 watts of peak power with 160 Nm of torque.

Packing a punch like that would not make this your leisure weekend coffee ride bike and might require licensing and limit access to existing trails. The battery is integrated in the downtube and a full charge will provide a range up to 64 km.

Jeep plans to release it’s eBike Powered by QuietKat in June 2020.
