International Cargo Bike Festival Declares 2020 the Decade of the Cargo Bike Kickoff

by ebikes-international.com

April 21, 2020 - (Nijmegen, NL) With most cities around the world relying on cycling as the most efficient and effective way of moving around during the current Coronavirus, we’re reminded of the bold declaration on Dec. 31, by the Dutch-based International Cargo Bike Festival, that  announced, “We unilaterally declare the 2020s the #decadeofthecargobike!”

As the new year unfolded reports from established financial groups such as Deloitte heralded the new age of e-bikes, as legendary brands such as General Motors and Harley-Davidson, embraced the segment.

Touted as a family’s first or second car, the e-bike surpassed e-automobiles as the saviour of commuting, traffic congestion, parking, health, the environment etc. as both young and old can ride a bicycle.

As COVID-19 stunned the world cycling was deemed essential in countless cities for residents to run errands, exercise, commute and businesses took notice. While those already using cargo bikes, like @Cool Blue in Holland, were ahead of the curve, the facility of delivering a myriad of products, including pizza, became apparent the world over.

With healthcare so vital in these critical times cargo bikes filled a gap to ensure front line workers received medical products and from New York to New Delhi the sound bell was ringing.

Despite having to postpone their 2020 event, originally scheduled April 24-26, the International Cargo Bike Festival is clearly at the forefront of the new age of cycling that’s been underway for some time, with the e-revolution rapidly gaining traction as well.
