Fancy Women Bike Ride is the Largest Cycling Event for Women Worldwide

September 1, 2020 - Founded in 2013 in Izmir, Turkey, the Fancy Women Bike Ride takes place annually in late September and has grown to become the largest bicycle event for women worldwide.

Created by Sema Gur Ucusan Teker as a Facebook event to draw attention to World Car Free Day, a total of 300 women participated to the inaugural bicycle ride.

Now with over 50,000 women participating in 70 cities all over Turkey and Europe, the event is organized by women who are eager to promote cycling to their peers, provide more visibility for women in society, and demand safer cities for cycling.

This year’s event is planned for September 20.
