September 25, 2020 - Copenhagen plans to be the world’s first carbon-neutral city by 2025 reports FastCompany and others. The bicycle is a strategic part of the Danish capital’s plans as is expanding its public transit system.
With emissions currently cut by 42%, the city’s mayor, Frank Jensen, says that cleaner air, less noise and a healthier city is the way forward. With that goal in mind a new initiative to create a “five-minute city” is also in the works where public amenities are that proximal in neighbourhoods to minimize car use.
