October 3, 2020 - A 30-minute documentary on “Europe’s Cycling Revolution” by BBC News Channel is airing on October 3 report Forbes.
The pandemic and resulting global cycling boom is affecting everyone around the world and it “…has shown us the potential cycling has to change our cities and our lives.”
The film stresses that getting more people walking and cycling is a recommendation from the World Health Organization.
Since the pandemic’s lockdowns began in March more than €1 billion has been spent on 1,400 miles of pop-up cycleways in order to keep key workers moving.
“Coronavirus is a moment in which every policymaker can change their own cities, failure to have the courage to change now could be disastrous,” said a Milan-based environmental lawyer.
But there are concerns from those who rely on vehicles and feel alienated or anxious about where this passion for pedal power will leave them.”
