October 10, 2020 - Holland invests €595 million, or €35 per resident, annually on cycling according to Building the Cycling City: The Dutch Blueprint for Urban Vitality. The country’s 17 million people collectively cycle 15.5 billion kilometres, or 912km per resident, which annually saves their healthcare system €19 billion (3% of their GDP).
In May 2019, Forbes reported that Holland’s love for e-bikes has been steadily growing, and the latest market statistics indicate that 40% of all bicycle sales in the Netherlands are e-bikes. When you strip 11% of children’s bikes from the total, then the majority of adult bikes sold were e-bikes.
