Quebec City to Set New Speed Limit of 30 K/h on Vast Majority of Streets

February 9, 2021 - By December, all residential streets in Quebec City will have a limit of 30 km/h. According to mayor Régis Labeaume, citizens are ready or a “major change” to a vast majority of streets reports Le Journal de Québec.

Currently, 81% of the streets of the capital are limited to 50 km / h. With the implementation of the Road Safety Strategy, by December, only 25% of the streets will allow a maximum speed of 50 km / h.

A survey by LÈger shows that 80% of citizens believe that the new limits combined with speed displays will encourage them to slow down in the streets.
