April 3, 2021 - In December, Québec announced a new funding program, offering a $2,000 rebate effective January 1, 2021, for e-cargo bikes to encourage a carbon-free delivery option for on-line commerce and local deliveries. In addition, the maximum financial assistance was increased for supporting activities aimed at improving the energy efficiency of large vehicle fleets. Jalon’s Colibri delivery project in Montréal, launched in 2019 in collaboration with Purolator, had similar objectives.
The long-awaited unveiling of the Green Economy Plan of the Government of Québec was also an opportunity to announce the continuation and strengthening of several flagship energy transition measures. The announcements were part of the renewal of programs linked to the Master Plan for Québec’s energy transition, innovation and efficiency.
In March, Nova Scotia also announced the launch of a $500 rebate for e-bikes in conjunction with its Climate Change Action Plan. As part of its commitment to the environment and fighting climate change, the Government of Nova Scotia is investing $19 million in rebates to support low-income families in making their homes more comfortable and energy-efficient. This investment will also help Nova Scotians buy clean, reliable electric vehicles.
