Eurobike to Move to Frankfurt in 2022 to Facilitate Expansion and Accessibility

June 29, 2021 - Eurobike, the world’s largest bicycle trade show will move to Frankfurt in 2022 in collaboration with show organizer, Messe Frankfurt, to facilitate future expansion and to improve accessibility.

With the current cycling boom worldwide, a total of 150,000 spectators are expected over five days which the current smaller venue in Friedrichshafen cannot manage reports Bild.

The move also allows improved access given Frankfurt’s central location with ample hotel options. The partnership also provides the opportunity for expansion which is part of Eurobike’s international strategy.

The Eurobike Show dates in 2022 will run July 13-17 with the first three days for the trade followed by a festival weekend open to the general public.

Industry analysts suggest the move favours Eurobike’s stronghold in cycling as other shows such as IAA Mobility (Internationale Automobil Ausstellung), that recently moved from Frankfurt to Munich, have shown a strong interest in bicycles.

With e-bikes sales in Germany topping 2 million, an increase of 43% over 2019 and e-cargo bike sales up 43% cracking 100,000 units Frankfurt Mayor Peter Feldmann is all smiles about the new fair.

“Bicycle traffic is a real topic of the future. The topics of climate protection and the turnaround in traffic are high on our agenda. Eurobike will be the lighthouse in a city that is preparing to put the bike at the center of the transport policy debate. I cannot imagine a more authentic location,” Feldmann told Bild.

Held since 1991 on Lake Constance in Friedrichshafen, and drawing approximately 60,000 trade and consumer visitors, Eurobike is touted as the world’s largest cycling trade event.
