September 22, 2021 - Pedego Electric Bikes, an award-winning national electric bike company with over 200 stores globally, today announced its celebration of a new store opening in Menlo Park, Calif. with a community-focused grand opening event held on Friday, September 17.
Hosted by local owner Jeff Scanlan, the event included a ribbon-cutting ceremony, catered refreshments, and a group ride to the town of Woodstock and back. Pedego CEO, Don DiConstanzo, and Pedego Director of Business Development, Cynthia Newcomb, were in attendance to connect with local Pedego enthusiasts. In addition, members of the Menlo Park City Council were also in attendance and assisted in the ribbon-cutting ceremony to welcome Scanlans new Pedego store to the Menlo Park community.
“I am thrilled to introduce Pedego Electric Bikes to the Menlo Park community,” said Scanlan. “As a life-long cyclist, myself, I was attracted to the emerging e-bike industry. After doing some research, I was drawn to Pedego based on their model of strong support for their network of independent store owners and dealers.” This made Pedego a natural fit to check Scanlans boxes in fulfilling a new business opportunity that was built around his passion for outdoor activity.
Before opening Pedego Menlo Park, Scanlan held business development roles in several industries throughout his career including hospital supplies, technology supply chain management services, and financial services. Most recently, he served as a non-profit executive for both local and national non-profit organizations. Scanlan remains committed to giving back to his community and will be hosting a raffle at his event with the proceeds going toward the Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition, a 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is “to create a healthy community, environment, and economy through bicycling for people who live, work, or play in San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties.”
“Throughout my adult life I have been active in supporting charitable organizations as a volunteer or through paid positions at the staff or executive levels,” shares Scanlan. “Non-profit organizations deliver critical services to large segments of our countrys population, whose needs would otherwise go unmet, and they do so very often with inconsistent funding sources and constrained human resources. Supporting charitable organizations is a way for me to help bridge the gap in providing services to populations of our society that are important to me personally.”
Don DiCostanzo founded Pedego Electric Bikes in 2008 out of a desire to combine quality and style in the electric bikes category. Pedego Menlo Park joins over 200 locally-owned Pedego stores throughout the U.S. and Canada.
“At Pedego, we’re committed to inspiring connection and adventure within each of our communities,” said Cynthia Newcomb, Director of Business Development at Pedego. “We’re a people-oriented, fun-focused company, which is why Menlo Park is the perfect addition to our Pedego family. We look forward to not only providing Menlo Park with the best electric bikes in the world but also cultivating a community that brings out the best in each other.”
