Recent Survey in USA Says Politicians and Planners are Missing the eBike Revolution

December 22, 2021 - In a November 2021 survey from the U.S. Conference of Mayors, titled “Leveraging New Technologies to Modernize Infrastructure and Improve Energy Efficiency in America’s Cities,” there’s no mention of e-bikes reports Treehugger.

Of the 103 U.S. mayors surveyed, of majority of 55% believed “all-electric vehicles” were the most promising technology from a list of 20 options presented to them. But the entire 20-page document refers only to e-cars and does not mention e-bikes even once.

Yet Europe is not ignoring e-bikes, and according to a new UK study by Pew Research published in ScienceDirect, e-bikes could reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions significantly. The study also notes that the vast majority of Americans live in urban and suburban areas, which puts 86% of the American population within range of e-bike use.
