France Announces Plans to Become the Top Cycling Tourism Destination by 2030

December 30, 2021 - The Destination France Plan announced by Prime Minister Jean Castex in late Nov. includes 44 million Euros to support investment in sustainable tourism infrastructure to make France the world’s leading cycling tourism destination by 2030 reports Vélo & Territoires.

With a 10-year trajectory and a total budget of 1.9 billion Euros the goal is to rebound and transform the tourism sector to establish France as the world’s leading tourism destination and reclaim first place in tourism revenue.

The Plan included improving or creating cycle routes; creating service areas along cycling routes, parking spots at tourist sites, coordination of a national cycling route plan, the monitoring of the quality of the cycling routes, support tools on bicycle equipment and areas to find services etc.
