Almost every second bicycle sold is an e-bike – total share: 45%, for bikes for adults: 55%. This makes Austria once again the strongest market in the DA-CH region.

A total of around €756 million (€756,249,657) was turned over with e-bikes sales in 2021. That is about 73% of the total bicycle sales in 2021.

In 2021, more than 2,200 e-cargo bikes were sold for the first time. The sales volume has thus doubled again (+ 136.5 %) after a strong increase in the previous year.

The bicycle has become indispensable as a means of sustainable, healthy and individual mobility which is underscored by the increase in government funding for cycling to around 60 million euros per year.
