First Global Dataset Says World Could Save 700m Tonnes of CO2 if People Cycled Like the Dutch

August 28, 2022 - The first global dataset of bicycle ownership and use by the University of Southern Denmark’s Department of Green Technology shows that if every person adopted the Dutch way of life and cycled on a daily basis, the world would save nearly 700 million tonnes of carbon pollution each year reports RTE (Raidió Teilifís Éireann, Ireland’s National Public Service Media).

According to the authors of the report, “a worldwide pro-bicycle policy and infrastructure development enabled modal shift like the Netherlands and Denmark can lead to significant untapped climate and health benefits.”
