8,500 Cyclists Close German Autobahn in Protest for Climate Solutions & More Bike Lanes

August 30, 2022 - Around 8,500 cyclists shut down part of the German autobahn between Frankfurt and Wiesbaden, about 40km (25 miles), in the state of Hessen on Sunday, Aug. 28, to protest for climate solutions reports BBC News.

Organized by Verkehrswende Hessen, the group wants better public transport, bike lanes and climate-neutral status by 2030.

The group presented a referendum with 70,232 signatures to the Hessian Minister for Economic Affairs and Transport for changes to traffic in Hesse.
