November 23, 2023 - City staff have released potential candidates for the 2025-2027 Near-term Cycling Network Plan and Yonge Street figures prominently. Cycling projects in Toronto advance in three-year increments known as the “near-term” Cycling Network Plan (CNP). In the early part of 2024, Transportation Services will recommend the 2025-2027 plan to the Infrastructure and Environment Committee. Deciding which routes make it on to the 2025-2027 CNP requires a multi-faceted evaluation and not all contenders will make the cut. You have a number of opportunities to have your say…

Complete the Micromobility Survey and provide input to the City’s future Micromobility Strategy
From emerging technologies to the tried and true bicycle, we are seeing an explosion in ways to get around the city without using an automobile. Micromobility is converging on our streets and sidewalks and the mixing of these mobility methods is not always collegial. City Staff have been tasked with developing a micromobility strategy to chart a way forward as existing and new options come on line. Help them get it right by completing the City’s Micromobility Survey by December 13. Full details on the project, explanations of what’s involved and the survey link can be found here.
From Pilot to Permanent – Yonge4All’s work on how to improve the Midtown Yonge Complete Street
Yonge4All volunteers surveyed the Midtown Yonge Complete Street in late August and early September evaluating issues around safety, experience and complete street amenities. This comprehensive analysis resulted in a report identifying top priorities and opportunities for improvement and has been delivered to City Staff and local councillors for consideration. Deficiencies suitable for 311 were reported.
We will continue to monitor the conditions on Yonge and work with the local councillors and City staff to continually improve the Midtown Yonge Complete Street.
Note: Spot a missing bollard, broken pavement or need for fresh paint? Submit deficiencies to 311
Santa Claus is coming to Yonge
It’s that time of year again, when Santa slips into his sleigh-like e-cargo bike and rides along Yonge Street from Finch to Bloor. Toronto Community Bikeways Coalition’s annual Cycling Good Cheer ride will take place on December 10 (Blizzard date is December 17). Start times, meet up locations and all the other details will be available on the Cycling Good Cheer Facebook page closer to the event. Always a good time, so don your best festive gear, light up your bike and join the fun. There’s lots of waves and happy honks for Santa and his cycling elves.
Yonge4All is a diverse group of residents who live, work and shop in midtown Toronto. We believe that Yonge Street should be welcoming, safe and accessible for people of all ages and abilities, whether they walk, take transit, drive a car, ride a bike or use another mobility device.
