Babboe Cargo Bikes Ordered by Dutch Product Safety Board to Halt all Sales

February 15, 2024 - Long-standing cargo bike manufacturer, Babboe, has been ordered by the Dutch product safety board (NVWA) to halt all sales and recall a number of models due to safety concerns reports Dutch News.

The NVWA had launched its own investigation at the end of last year after being alerted to a number of incidents where bike frames had broken. Another outlet RTL Nieuws has reported dozens of cases of the frames breaking and injuring children who were being transported.

Babboe recalled around 3,500 City model bikes made between 2010 and 2018 after safety tests revealed hairline cracks that could cause the frame to break during “intensive use”.

Babboe is one of many bicycle brands owned by the Accell Group.
