Riese & Müller Receives German Sustainability Award in the Category of Two Wheelers

November 4, 2024 - (Mühltal, Germany) Riese & Müller, the premium manufacturer of e-bikes and cargo bikes, has been honoured with the German Sustainability Award in the company category “Two Wheelers”. This award is considered as Europe’s foremost award for ecological and social commitment, and has been awarded since 2008 by the German Sustainability Award Foundation. It honours companies that contribute effectively and successfully to the sustainable transformation of the economy.

“It is great that we have won the German Sustainability Award. The award demonstrates that we have achieved our Vision 2025, and is a reward for our hard work on the issue of social-ecological transformation,” explains Dr. Sandra Wolf, Riese & Müller CEO. “The process we have begun is a mammoth task. This award motivates us even more to continue along this path and make a real difference.”

Vision 2025: To become the most sustainable company in the e-bike sector
In 2019, Riese & Müller set itself the goal of becoming the most sustainable company in the e-bike sector. Since then, the e-bike manufacturer, based in the German town of Mühltal, has worked on extensive sustainability projects – at its own site, along the supply chain, and in logistics, product design and the manufacturing process. The following milestones have been achieved:

• Continuous reduction of total emissions and product-related emissions
• Transparent supply chain and supplier audits
• Zero waste and zero emission projects at its site
• Use of reusable transport packaging
• Circular design as the guiding principle of product development
• Use of ASI-certified recycled aluminium
• ISO 14001 certification (environmental management)

The award ceremony for the German Sustainability Award for companies will be held on 28 November in Düsseldorf.
