Sundays Bike Insurance Now Available in Canada via Bicycle Broker

by Robin Richardson

April 10, 2025 - Bicycle Broker, a Canadian insurance company with offices in Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia, now offers Sundays’ global insurance which provides comprehensive coverage for cyclists including e-bikes.

Now in Canada via Bicycle Broker, Sundays’ bike insurance provides comprehensive coverage for cyclists including e-bikes. ©

In addition to insuring bikes against theft and damage, Sundays’ standard coverage includes custom parts and accessories; medical expenses in case of accidents; new and existing bikes; multi-bike discounts; lifetime new-for-old replacement; loss or damage during transport by air, land, or sea; and transportation for you and your bike if a crash renders it un-rideable.

Many bicycle owners assume their renter’s or homeowner’s insurance offers all the coverage they need for their bikes and their cycling activities. Unfortunately, that isn’t always true – especially for e-bikes, specialty bikes, and cargo bikes. Even if the loss is covered, there may be deductibles, increases to premiums, and exclusions which may limit reimbursement.

Bikes may also not be covered against theft when parked away from home; damage from accidents or vandalism may be out of scope; and high-value bikes can be excluded from coverage although most insurance policies allow you to add coverage endorsements for valuable personal items such as art, jewellery, or a $10,000 bicycle and pay a premium.

Cyclists who wish to travel with their bikes or participate in races and other events may wish to consider that they aren’t out of luck if something happens to their bike far from home.

Optional additional coverage options include racing/event coverage for damage or loss during an event, as well as reimbursement for event registration fees in the case you cannot participate; a rental bike to replace your own if you are uninjured but your bike is unrideable; global coverage for out-of-country travel; and even replacement of your clothing and helmet if they are damaged or lost.

Sundays has partnered with non-profit organization 529 Garage to help prevent theft and assist with recovery of stolen bikes. Currently available in Canada, USA, the UK and Australia, more countries are slated to come. A wealth of advice and tips on securing your bike can be found here.

Bicycle Broker offers a variety of cycling products and is owned and managed by a group of cyclists who understand the value and importance of their customers’ bicycles. In addition to their support for individuals they offer bike shop owners coverage tailored to their needs, including commercial general liability, property, and cyber risk insurance.

Cycling industry professionals and amateurs including coaches, guides, associations, and clubs, can also find insurance to suit their requirements with expert guidance from Bicycle Broker’s team. They even broker home insurance policies, small business insurance, and travel insurance for Canadians going abroad or international visitors to Canada.
