by Benjamin Sadavoy

June 27, 2025 - (Frankfurt, GER) Day three at Eurobike 2025 saw over 200 women gather for the Women in Cycling Networking Breakfast session to hear brief keynote speakers, meet new associates, and exchange ideas and challenges, to empower women to gain more visibility in the cycling industry.

With many first-timers on hand, the event was MC’d by Isabell Eberlein from Velokonzept, who welcomed an amazing international line-up of speakers including Dr. Angela Francke, Head of Cycling and Local Mobility Division at Kassel University, Amelie Guicheney, Co-founder & CEO at GAYA, Elisa Chiu, Founder & CEO at Anchor Asia / Anchor Taiwan, and Sarah Jasat, Content Creator @cyclinginsparklywellie

Francke spoke about surveys they’ve done that show 35% of women aspire to leadership positions, 65% of women in cycling want training to improve and grow, yet one in ten women are likely to leave the cycling industry.

Guicheney noted that after giving birth she realized that she could be a CEO and took the plunge founding Gaya Bike. The idea of wanting to make a difference in the world for her own child was also part of her motivation as she recognized that women are desperately under-represented in leading positions in cycling, like in most industries.

Elisa Chiu, Founder & CEO at Anchor Asia / Anchor Taiwan, wants to see more money invested in women’s initiatives. ©

Investing in startups by women was Chiu’s key message noting that only 2% of investment funds go to initiatives by women, yet women represent 50% of the population. She attended the Leader’s Night at Eurobike where no woman were featured which was disappointing and added fuel to her desire to improve things.

The final speaker, Jasat, explained how she tried to solve her demanding 2-hour commute to work, even arriving an hour early to avoid the congestion. Finally, the bicycle delivered the best solution, along with happiness on so many levels, and she wants to help others embrace the joy of cycling.

The Networking Breakfast concluded with a group photo and was followed by a Walk-the-Halls Tour, a Panel: Power of Data @Pink Stage and an evening gathering, Trendlounge: Bike Heroines.
