September 27, 2025 - Yamaha’s new PW-LINK System features a fully integrated and interchangeable lineup of drive units, batteries, and displays allowing e-bike manufacturers to use a single frame design with a range of PW-LINK combinations, thus enabling greater customization and variety for end consumers.

In addition, Yamaha is launching an advanced CAN- OPEN EDS platform to serve as a dynamic bridge with its network of partners, empowering OEM brands to play an active role in the co-development of future e-bike models.

Each component within the PW-LINK System is developed and manufactured in Yamaha’s advanced facilities in Japan and France.

Light, compact and powerful, the new PW-X4 gets a significant boost in performance, making it Yamaha’s ultimate eMTB drive unit. Weighing just 2.6kg and producing 100Nm of peak torque and 800W power output, this high-tech 48V design delivers formidable power on the toughest mountain trails.

Yamaha’s new PW-S3 weighs just 2.8kg, delivers up to 85Nm of torque, and comes in three versions — PW-S3, PW-S3 Cargo and PW-S3 Easy — sharing the same platform design. Equipped with sophisticated Zero Cadence technology for instant assist, together with a quiet and natural ride feeling,
this compact and versatile 48V drive unit can handle trekking, commuting, cargo deliveries, and urban exploration.

Light and super compact, Yamaha’s new PW-L1 features a magnesium casing and weighs in at less than 2kg. This new lightest-in-class 48V motor delivers 60Nm maximum torque for stronger continuous high performance that takes you further and faster into new terrain.

Also in the PW-LINK lineup is the 48V Battery 560 with 561Wh, weighing 3.2kg, and the new 842Wh, 48V ultra- compact 840 Battery, Yamaha’s robust and stylish new easy- to-read PW-LINK side display, the new frame-embedded, high-visibility Integrated Display, and the fully customizable PW-LINK app offering instant access to a huge amount of information.
