April 23, 2026 - Cikada is a new e-bike brand that was introduced in 2024 by Dyaco International Inc. a Taiwan-based company that designs, manufactures, and distributes fitness equipment. The global company has offices in Niagara Falls and we were excited to test their Touring model this fall.

When I picked up the test e-bike at Cycle Solutions in Toronto I was struck with its robust appearance, wide tires and rear rack, and was eager to test the Cikada on the city’s roads, potholes and all.
The Touring model has a similar look to the e-bikes you commonly see food delivery couriers riding, and while waiting at red lights I was asked by many about the Cikada brand.

The powerful Bafang 350W/80Nm mid-drive motor is supported by a long-lasting, removable LG 720Wh battery that has a range up to 125 km and offers protection against overcharging, over-discharging, and overheating. The e-bike’s top speed is 32 km/hr with pedal-power assist.
The Touring model also features a twist throttle located on the right handlebar for an extra boost to get you over steep inclines, or when faster acceleration is needed. The throttle also operates without pedaling which allows you to take the occasional break from pedaling during excursions.
There are five pedal e-assist modes along with walk assist, which are easy to toggle between via a control button on the left side of the handlebar.

The controller’s LCD display screen allows you to easily view a range of useful riding stats such as your speed, kilometers travelled, and the percentage of power remaining in the battery.
The entire electrical system, including the battery, is UL 2271/2849 certified, the highest standard of e-bike safety regulations.
The 6061 aluminum, 27.5” frame features a low step-through design which makes it easy to get on and off the e-bike. It comes equipped with an 8-speed Microshift drivetrain, hydraulic disc brakes, a Zoom front suspension fork with 110mm of travel, an adjustable stem, and a suspension seatpost for added comfort.
Keep in mind that it’s a heavy bike, weighing 66 lbs, and it can be a bit awkward to maneuver until you’re riding.
The Cikada Touring e-bike performed well out on the road and the powerful Bafang motor was able to tackle steep hills effortlessly while carrying a load of groceries and a laptop.

The suspension delivered a comfortable ride over a range of pot-holed roads, and while the shifting wasn’t the smoothest, it handled a variety of terrain and conditions. Having five pedal-assist levels gives you more options as well, and also reduces the amount of gear changes needed.
The hydraulic disc brakes with 160mm rotors provided reliable stopping power. Riders who are new to throttles should ensure that it isn’t in use while braking.
The 27.5×2.8″ Kenda Kwick Seven.5 Sport e-bike certified tires are solid and sturdy. Puncture-resistant, they come with reflector strips to enhance visibility. They performed well over uneven terrain, and in inclement and snowy conditions.
The wide tires and weight of the bike also provided stability when riding at higher speeds, up to 32 km/h.
During my various outings, I was impressed by how long the battery lasted, although it is heavy and contributes to the overall weight of the bike.

Designed to meet a range of commuting and travel needs, the Cikada Touring e-bike comes equipped with a sturdy rear rack with a 33-lb weight capacity. It’s worth noting that it is too wide to accommodate panniers. An optional front rack is also available and the total capacity, including the rider, is 140kg/309lbs.
An important visibility and safety feature is the integrated front and rear lights which are powered by the battery and are activated via the controller.
The e-bike also comes with a solid kickstand and a bell, although our test model unfortunately did not come with one – it’s an important safety feature and legally required in Ontario.
You can also download the Cikada app for additional e-bike customization options such as the tire pressure, trip route directions and handy maintenance detection and notification information.
A theft prevention feature of the e-bike includes a password that is required to ride the bike once it is turned on. This is a very practical feature.
An additional theft prevention feature is a lock to secure the removable battery, which can be easily taken with you for recharging. This additional locking mechanism makes the e-bike less attractive to thieves.
The Cikada Touring is a sturdy work horse and a versatile urban e-bike that’s also well-suited for rural settings as it has the power needed to navigate a range of hills and uneven terrain in all kinds of weather.
