The landmark facility will strengthen Canada’s high-performance pathway, expand community access to track cycling, and position the country to host major domestic and international events for decades to come.

The Coronation Park Sports and Recreation Centre, a 16,600 square metre multipurpose complex designed by FaulknerBrowns, in collaboration with hcma and Dub Architects, has already earned major international recognition, receiving both a WAF Future Projects Award and a 2024 Canadian Architect Award of Merit.

Its striking elliptical form is built around the velodrome itself, positioned one story above ground level, giving visitors a dramatic overhead view as cyclists reach speeds of up to 80kph.The $153M velodrome, nearly two decades in the making, began welcoming cycling clubs last October. Its doors are open to community riders, clubs, schools and developing athletes. The new facility expands year-round access in Western Canada and supports athletes on the road to Olympic and Paralympic success.
