May 17, 2026 - (Toronto, ON) Councillor Diane Saxe’s Spring Spectacular on May 17, at Christie Pits in Toronto, saw beautiful sunshine, lots of cyclists and a huge line up for the free BBQ with hot dogs, hamburgers, veggie options and ice cream.

The Victoria Day long weekend, and the fun-filled community celebration welcomed spring with blue skies and warm sunshine, along with activities, music, food, and family-friendly programming for all ages!

This year’s Spring Spectacular featured a wide range of free activities, including a Kids Fun Zone, giant games, bubble wands, soccer skills stations, and a dance contest – along with free plants/shrub giveaways.

Families can take part in an interactive passport activity for children, with prizes and ice cream rewards, and enjoy live music and a DJ throughout the day.

Community highlights also include a native plant sale, urban forestry tree giveaway, a bike repair workshop, and information tables from local partners such as Live Green Toronto, Toronto Transit Commission, Toronto Hydro, Cycle Toronto, and much, much more!

“It’s great to see so many people enjoying the sunshine and today’s Spring Spectacular celebration,” said Saxe. “Last year we had to do an emergency run for more hamburgers but this year we’re ready.”
