July 12, 2026 - Western Newfoundland is wild and rugged, with 700 kilometres of road that stretches north to south, and an amazing mountain-bike trail network with a backdrop found nowhere else in North America.

Featuring over 30km of trails, you can enjoy everything from easygoing flow routes to technical, adrenaline-pumping descents, including machine-built and classic feature-rich singletrack.

The Massey Drive Trails are some of the oldest in the area and offer fun singletrack trails that wind through different wooded landscapes adjacent to old logging roads. These trails include the Cub Mountain network and connect directly to the Corner Brook Gorge trails as well (if you cross the highway).

Cycling in Gros Morne National Park offers a mix of gravel trails and growing mountain biking networks, featuring stunning coastal and mountain scenery. The Neddies Harbour Traverse (green) is a great option for beginners, while Ridgeline (blue) offers an enjoyable ride for intermediate riders, and Dr. Ds (black) provides a technical and challenging experience for advanced riders. E-bikes are also becoming a popular way to explore the region.

Duncan’s Gulch features mostly purpose-built downhill mountain bike trails, while The Curry Climb offers unparalleled views of the City of Corner Brook and Bay of Islands — but you’ll have to work for the view!

Plus, there’s a popular 55km gravel cycling loop for “G’roadies,” with lots to offer, which is a great option for an afternoon ride to stretch your legs in a different way.

Riding in Western Newfoundland means that the trails end near saltwater and feature amazing terrain, including boreal forest, the Long Range Mountains, and fjord-like inlets.

In addition, the Long Range Mountains serve as the venue for a full day of mountain bike racing through the Humber Valley at the Long Range Enduro, now in its fifth year. Featuring big climbs and long descents, it’s a full day of top- notch mountain bike racing with an after-party and an awards ceremony that embody the communal spirit of the island.

After a memorable day on the trails, there are plenty of great spots to relax and refuel, including local breweries, restaurants and bakeries that highlight regional ingredients.

Managed by the non-profit West Coast Cycling Association, the trail network in Western Newfoundland meets the accessibility and service benchmarks of leading global mountain bike destinations.
