September 23, 2026 - (Toronto, ON) The Ontario Bike Summit, Canada’s largest cycling conference, Sept. 22-24, is underway at the Novotel Toronto Centre with theme, “Inspiring the Future: Building Liveable Cities Through Cycling.”
Every year, the Ontario Bike Summit brings together government policy and decision makers, industry leaders, affiliate principals and community advocates from across Canada and internationally to share innovations, practical solutions and opportunities for progress in cycling and active transportation.
The opening day saw a host of presentations including a Mobile Workshop: Waterfront Innovations & Corridor Challenges, a Bicycle Friendly Communities Workshop: From Application to Action, Designing a Multimodal Waterfront: The Future of Mobility in Toronto, an opening reception, and a fireside chat: YZD – Designing North America’s Largest Urban Redevelopment from the Ground Up.
Day two kicked off to a full house with welcomes including organizer, Share the Road Cycling Coalition’s founder and Board Chair, Eleanor McMahon, who talked about the importance of safety and building confidence in people to embrace cycling. Share the Road has also partnered with the UK’s Bikeability to help children develop healthy habits for life, strengthen mental well-being, and build the foundation for safer roads and safer motorists.
A special guest welcome was delivered from Toronto’s Mayor Olivia Chow who spoke about the importance of cycling infrastructure and bike lanes for everyone’s safety including kids biking to school, repairing 213,000 potholes on Toronto streets, the virtues of year-round cycling, and Bike Share Toronto’s record-breaking accomplishments, including new docking stations on Toronto’s Islands, that demonstrate the appetite and desire for cycling, and the importance of making it safe.
