Austria’s eBike Sales Exceed 40% Breaking 200,000 Units & eCargo Bikes Double

May 13, 2021 - (Vienna, AUS) In 2020, more than 200,000 e-bikes were sold in Austria for the first time, corresponding to a 41% market share reports ARGE Fahrrad. The increase in e-cargo bikes was particularly significant as the segment almost doubled to almost 950 units.

Last year a total of 496,434 bicycles were sold through specialist and sports retailers, a 13% increase over the previous year and the highest value since the beginning of market volume surveys by VSSÖ and ARGE Fahrrad. The bicycle has become indispensable as the central means of transport for sustainable, healthy and individual mobility.
