Bafang Continues Sponsor Partnership of CST PostNL Bafang eMTB Racing Team

release by Bafang Electric

December 1, 2020 - Bafang has confirmed its continued sponsorship arrangement with the CST PostNL Bafang Mountainbike Racing Team, supporting the team into the 2021 Olympic year and beyond. The partnership will see ongoing close collaboration between Bafang, American Eagle MTB and the racing team, ensuring the sport’s high demands are met.

Following two years of successful partnership, Bafang has confirmed ongoing sponsorship of the CST PostNL Bafang Mountainbike Racing Team (the Team) into the 2021 Olympic year, with the intention of continuing the cooperation through to the Paris Olympic Games in 2024.

During the two years of sponsorship to date, there has been intensive collaboration between e-drive systems manufacturer Bafang, mountainbike brand American Eagle, and the riders of the Team. The e-MTB developed by Bafang and American Eagle, the E-agle, was ridden by the Team to compete in their first e-MTB events, performing well in the UCI e-MTB racing class.

Commenting on the continuing sponsorship, Jack Brandsen, Europe General Manager for Bafang Electric Motor Science-Technology B.V., stated, “Since it is very stimulating for Bafang to work with one of the most professional mountain bike teams in the world, to develop together products that meet the high demands of the team in terms of durability, reliability and top performance, we are very happy to continue our partnership.”

Reflecting on the benefits of the close collaborative nature of the sponsorship arrangement, Brandsen added, “The feedback we get from the professional riders is very useful, we transform this into improvements not only for the team products, but also for all our products in the mass market.

We very much look forward to continuing to work together; engineered to make you smile.”

Olympic gold medal-holder Bart Brentjens, Team Director of the Team, stated, “The process of developing a winning e-Mountainbike together with Bafang and American Eagle has gone so fast over the past 2 years! It feels like we have just started. Until now it has been an interesting and challenging project.

“Not only me, but our XCO riders are all very excited about the American Eagle Bafang e-Mountainbike that we have developed and they love to ride it. So much, that some of our riders will also ride international e-Mountainbike competitions next year in addition to their regular program.

“It is good to see that the popularity of the e-Mountainbike is growing enormously and fast! Not only with consumers, but also as a competitive sport. It is great to be able to contribute to this and to be able to bring the e-Mountainbike bike to the attention together with our partner Bafang. In the last period we have been able to gain a lot of experience and knowledge. We are convinced that we can still improve.

The Team is ready to continue the journey with even more beautiful adventures,” he concluded.

Although the racing schedule has been reduced dramatically this year due to the global pandemic, the Team’s Kjell van den Boogert became Dutch National e-Bike Champion 2020 in September.
