Bicycle Film Festival Arrives in Halifax for First Time Physically on Aug. 27

release by the Halifax Cycling Coalition

August 16, 2022 - (Halifax, NS) Bicycle Film Festival has been celebrating bicycles through art, film and music over the last 22 years and is arriving physically in Halifax for the first time on Saturday, August 27, 2022!

BFF spanned the world in over 100 cities worldwide to an audience of over one million people. BFF Halifax presents two new short film programs: Cycling for Change and Adventure shorts. Curated documentaries, narrative animations, award-winning directors, and emerging talents – all sharing equal billing.

Tickets are $20 or you can buy both programs for $30. A portion of all tickets goes to support our advocacy work. 2 Crows Brewing Co. will be serving up cold drinks all night and there will also be snacks to be bought and some sweet prizes to be won. Be sure to get your tickets early, as they will sell out – and you don’t want to miss this film lineup and community celebration of cycling!

6:30 pm – Program 1: Cycle For Change shorts
These films celebrate the change makers, the advocates, and the activists who are pushing the bike movement forward in their communities. Featuring stories about:
• The city of Monterrey, Mexico is in crisis due to a lack of bicycle infrastructure
• The affirmation of Derius Matchewan Papatie’s courage in Rapid Lake, a First Nation reserve in Quebec
• A collective of cycling communities in Los Angeles fight for protected bike lanes, and road safety — determined to bring a new era of mobility justice to the city
• And more…

9:00 pm – Program 2: Adventure Shorts
For lovers of gravel, mountain biking, bike packing, fixed gear, ultra-endurance cycling, and adventure, this program captures the spirit of passionate cyclists around the world. Featuring stories about:
• A portrait of Ron Holden and Ride for Black Lives, a movement to spread the message of equality through open-to-all group rides around Los Angeles
• A dreamy glimpse into three professional female mountain bikers reflecting on their willingness to sustain broken bones, concussions, and organ damages
• A gruelling 240-mile gravel road bicycle race traverses Minnesota’s roads less travelled— all within 24 hours
• And more…

This event is generously sponsored by our friends at Bicycle Nova ScotiaPatagonia Halifax2 Crows Brewing Co.Halifax Cycles and Guitars and Seven Bays Bouldering.

Oh, and when you purchase a ticket you will also be entered to win one of many sweet prizes donated by Halifax Cycles, Seven Bays Bouldering and Patagonia Halifax totalling over $1000!
