December 31, 2019 - Bosch’s new Smart Glasses Light Drive are the perfect fit for any e-bike adventure. These light weight, stylish optics are packed with cutting edge innovation providing “just-in-time hands-free” information so you can keep you hands where they should be, on the bars! Keep your head up and eyes forward as navigation information is displayed on the lenses.
The new Smart Glasses utilize Bosch Sensortec’s solution, a turnkey light drive system composed of a technology stack of optical, computing, and sensor components. Bosch has core competencies in the subsystems of this technology stack. The optical systems include microelectromechanical system (MEMS) mirrors with ASIC controller that precisely direct a low-power beam of light to the user’s eye.
This beam of light travels from the light drive, through the pathway of scanning micro-mirrors, across a finely tuned transparent holographic element (HOE) embedded in the glasses lens, finally painting real-time imagery directly onto the user’s retina. The visualized content is invisible to the outside world, entirely private to the user.
Calls, notification, alarms, calendars, reminders are all part of the package and these Smart Glasses work with WhatsApp and WeChat as well. You can even search a recipe for your post ride meal then use the shopping checklist to ensure you don’t miss that important ingredient.
Bosch claims it’s the world’s first all-day transparency smartglasses solution. The smallest on the market with 30% less depth than other solutions, the Light Drive system is also the lightest on the market at under 10 grams. The new Smart Glasses will begin rolling out in 2021.
