Brussels Launches Cargo Bike Project as Ideal Replacement for Small Vans or Cars

June 1, 2021 - The Brussels government wants to promote the use of cargo bikes among families and companies as they are the ideal means to move light loads quickly in the city while improving the air, and quality of life in the capital reports VRT NWS media.

With the Cargo Bike project, the Region hopes to convince Brussels’ residents to use a cargo bike which is cheaper than a van, doesn’t have to deal with traffic jams, and always has a parking space.

The campaign is already a hit with the inhabitants of Brussels. “Entrepreneurs who use a cargo bike will soon receive a premium for the purchase of a cargo bike,” says Barbara Trachte, state secretary for Economic Transition (Ecolo).
