April 9, 2022 - (Laguna Seca, CA) The Bulls eMTB Race ePowered by Bosch was held in the late afternoon on Day 2 of the Sea Otter Classic and saw great conditions and sunny skies with temperatures around 70 degrees, in contrast to the previous day’s sweltering heat.
The event welcomed U.S. Congressman Jimmy Panetta (D-Carmel Valley) to officially start the action. Panetta, along with fellow Congressman, Earl Blumenauer, introduced the E-BIKE Act (Electric Bicycle Incentive Kickstart for the Environment) to Congress to encourage the use of e-bikes via consumer incentives.
Charlie Mullins from Grove City, PA took the Open Men’s race powering through 5 laps in 55:21 winning over Cal Skilsky from Phoenix, AZ with a time of 56:05, followed by Brian Gordon of Morgan Hill, CA in third.
Fort Lauderdale, Florida’s Kelly Jones was the fastest in the Open Women’s event in 1:01:25 over Eileen Saller from Littleton, CO with a time of 1:03:09. Wyatt Simmons from Hayward, CA won the U23 men’s event while Maren Sheffield from Foothills Ranch, CA was the lone U23 women’s winner.
