June 7, 2020 - (Naarden, NED) Carqon, a 100% Dutch brand owned by Accell Group, is new high-end cargo bike that features a well-designed and functional product for this fast-growing segment of the market.
With the popularity of cycling growing exponentially around the globe in the post-pandemic world, the opportunities in the e-cargo bike market for personal and business use are apparent. Carqon joins Accell’s other well-known bicycle brands such as Batavus, Babboe, Sparta, Koga, Haibike and Winora.
According to its web site, “Carqon was founded with the ambition to develop a superior cargo bike that sets a new standard in design, functionality, and technology. If you still think cars, even electric cars, are the future of urban transportation, the Carqon electric cargo bike is here to convince you otherwise.”
Carqon uses the latest Bosch Performance CX Cargo Line mid-engine. The centre drive, powerful 4th generation electric motor is lightweight, compact, and efficient.
Coupled with the choice of a 400 or 500-Watt Bosch battery the range is 40 or 60 kilometers respectively. With a double Bosch battery pack of 1000 Watts the Carqon’s range increases to 120 kilometers.
Two gear options include either a Shimano Deore XT 10-speed derailleur with stainless steel KMC chain, or an Enviolo N380 Stepless SP-Gear Hub linked to the low-maintenance Gates carbon belt drive.
Aimed at “parents who want to get the best out of their family life, Carqon guarantees the most safe and reliable cargo bike experience every day.”
Carqon has won three prestigious design awards: the German Design Award 2020, the European Product Design Award and the Golden A’Design Award.
Starting at € 4999 a range of accessories are also offered including a rain tent, stylish two-seat cushions, a Maxi-Cosi adapter or a sturdy cover.
In 2018 Accell acquired fast-growing Velosophy B.V. owner of Babboe, the European market leader in family cargo bikes, the new premium Carqon cargo bike brand, and Centaur Cargo for B2B cargo bikes.
