Celebrate World Tourism Day this Sept. 27 on Two Wheels with More Cycling

September 27, 2021 - There is no better way to see the world than by the seat of a bicycle, e-bike or cargo bike, so celebrate World Tourism Day on September 27 on two wheels.

Celebrate World Tourism Day on two wheels. @ECF

World Tourism Day has been designated by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) as the global observance day fostering awareness of tourism’s social, cultural, political and economic value and the contribution that the sector can make towards reaching Sustainable Development Goals.

According to the European Cyclists’ Federation (ECF) “re-imagining the way we travel is essential to shift our future to one that is greener, healthier and more inclusive.”

ECF believes that #MoreCyclingTourism will reduce the negative impacts of travel and has the potential to restore life and ecosystems, supporting the creation of vibrant communities, and boosting local economies. Cycling is also a fun and unforgettable way to discover new places.

By looking beyond tourism statistics and acknowledge that, behind every number, there is a person, UNWTO invites its Member States, as well as non-members, sister UN agencies, businesses and individuals to celebrate tourism’s unique ability to ensure that nobody is left behind as the world begins to open up again and look to the future.
