November 3, 2021 - Chicago recently announced plans to install 160 kilometres of new and upgraded bike lanes by the end of 2022 reports Cities Today.

The initiative is the biggest bike lane expansion in the city’s history and will be funded by a US$17 million investment via Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot’s Chicago Works capital plan.
As part of the announcement, the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) released a new document, the Chicago Community Cycling Network Update, which includes a summary of 2021 initiatives that are funded through the Mayor’s Chicago Works plan.
