City of Pasadena in California Launches Pilot Program for eBike Rebates from $500 to $1,000

August 16, 2023 - (Pasadena, Calif.) Pasadena Water and Power (PWP) announced a new e-bike rebate pilot program that launched July 1. PWP residential electric customers are eligible for a $500 rebate when they purchase a new qualifying electric bicycle from a bike shop located in the City of Pasadena.

Customers can receive an additional $250 bonus rebate (up to $750) if they purchase a new qualifying electric cargo bike or adaptive electric bicycle from a bike shop located in the City of Pasadena. An additional $250 bonus rebate (up to $1,000) is available for customers currently enrolled in PWP’s income-qualified bill payment assistance program.

The California Department of Motor Vehicles defines e-bikes as “a bicycle fully equipped with fully operable pedals and an electric motor of less than 750 watts.” The new pilot rebates will apply to new Class 1, Class 2 and Class 3 e-bikes with a limit of two per PWP residential electric service account. Scooters, mopeds, segways and e-bike conversion kits will not qualify.

The pilot program joins a robust suite of PWP rebates focused on sustainable energy, electrification and helping customers save on their utility bill. More information on PWP rebates, including electric vehicle rebates and incentives for energy-efficient appliances, is available at PWPweb.com/SaveMoney.
