February 19, 2022 - Dutch teens cycle an astonishing 2,000km per year. They also rank among the healthiest and happiest—with the lowest rates of obesity and antidepressant usage—on Earth. This isn’t coincidence, but an outcome of a system that prioritizes humans over cars says Chris Bruntlett, the marketing and communications manager at the Dutch Cycling Embassy.
“What parent wouldn’t want this for their kids? How exciting that to tackle the biggest crisis’ we face as a species, all we have to do is make nicer places to live,” tweeted former Olympic gold medalist, the national commissioner of the UK government’s new cycling and walking body, Active Travel England (ATE), which launched January 24.
