eBikes Outsold 4-Wheeled Electric Vehicles in USA More Than Double Last Year

July 2, 2021 - Demand for electric bicycles is soaring in the USA outselling four-wheeled vehicles more than two to one last year, despite federal (and many state) subsidies for the latter mode reports StreetsBlog USA.

Numbers to reveal that 600,000 e-bikes were sold last year in the U.S., a rate of about once every 52 seconds. Advocates say that demand would be even stronger if U.S. cities were building bike infrastructure to match the revolutionary emerging mode.

While EVs are eligible for up to $7,500 in federal tax credits supporters hope that the recent introduction of a popular bill called the EBIKE Act, which provides lawmakers with a readymade template to subsidize e-bikes, will be enacted.
