Edmonton’s United Sport & Cycle Offers Appointments for Private Bicycle Shopping & Tune-Ups During COVID-19

release by United Sport & Cycle

March 28, 2020 - (Edmonton, Alberta) The staff at United Sport & Cycle know that an active lifestyle is important, now more than ever. With so many families in self-isolation, the need for safe physical activities is critical in the weeks and months ahead.

Led by Manager of Marketing and Operations, Kelly Hodgson, United Sport & Cycle—still temporarily closed to slow the spread of COVID-19 in the community—will now be offering customers private 1-on-1 bike shopping and bike tune-up experiences.

As Hodgson explains, “We chose to temporarily close earlier this month. Soon, we had many many inquiries and we understood very clearly that our customers need to be able to access their local bike shop during this time. So this is one way that we could get creative!”

He adds, “For many, cycling is not just an essential pastime but also many people’s primary mode of transportation. Biking provides a safe way to stay active while maintaining social distancing. It allows Edmontonians to stay mentally and physically healthy, and to be able to make their way to and from essential services.

“Plus, it’s a great way to get the kids outside and let them burn off some energy!”

Starting Thursday, March 26th, at their Main Store in Edmonton’s Old Strathcona, customers will be able to book their own private bike shopping experiences or bike tune-up service, by calling the United Sport & Cycle Hotline at 780-267-0109.

After receiving their appointment confirmation, individuals will be able shop and select new bikes for themselves or their family members in a 1-on-1 environment.

Customers needing bike tune-up are now also able to book a private bike service drop-off. Once they approve the tune-up estimate, the work will be completed, and the customer will pick a convenient time for their private bike pick-up.

Hodgson adds, “For over 90 years we’ve been through a lot together in this Community of ours, but together we’ll get through this.

“United Sport & Cycle continues to take all the necessary precautionary measures during the emergence of COVID-19 and we continue to take our responsibility in flattening the curve seriously.

“Outside of our new private appointments, our physical stores remain temporarily closed and we encourage our customers to shop us online. We continue to offer free 24 hour shipping to the Edmonton area.”
