October 10, 2020 - Bosch eBike System’s new software advancements for 2021 include both Cargo Line (up to 32kph), and Cargo Line Speed drives (up to 45kph). Access to a maximum of 85Nm of torque ensures greater performance and support in transporting heavy goods by eCargo bikes. Uphill starts and quicker acceleration are now easier than ever.
Performance Line Speed S-Pedelecs (in Europe) will also experience quicker accelerations, to a max speed of 45kph, along with a bigger boost courtesy of 85Nm of torque, more dynamic riding and the ability to achieve long distances.
With the software update to Performance Line CX, eMountain bikers can experience a more natural, intuitive and powerful sensation via increased motor torque up to 85Nm, and further advances in eMTB mode.
For model year 2020 onwards, software updates for Cargo Line and Performance Line CX can be installed at local dealers. Units with Cargo Speed and Performance Speed S-Pedelec drives cannot be retrofitted.
Nyon On-Board Computer
For 2021, Bosch’s fully-networked Nyon on-board computer automatically synchronizes data with the eBike Connect app, providing on-board GPS and fitness data all through an intuitive and easy-to-operate touchscreen with the swipe of a finger.
The functional 3.2-inch, high- resolution colour touchscreen is easy to read, capable of working in most conditions and can also be operated with touchscreen- compatible gloves. With two mounting positions for optimal viewing, the display brightness and backlight automatically adjust. Riders can also manually choose a dark or bright display for maximum contrast.
Routes from the Outdooractive platform are available in the eBike Connect online portal, and tours from the Outdoor app Komoot can be imported. There are many functions, including notification tones that tell you when to make a turn. Nyon will even inform you if alternative routes are available.
Nyon can also assist with personal fitness goals by calculating ride performance, calorie consumption and heart rate while comparing
speed, performance and cadence. It analyzes data for each performance and is compatible with multiple users, allowing the whole family to benefit.
Available in fall 2020, the new Nyon is compatible with all drive systems from model year 2014 and can be retrofitted at your local bicycle dealer.
Kiox Computer
For 2021, Bosch’s on-board Kiox computer will feature a navigation function that can access the eBike Connect smartphone app via Bluetooth. The display aligns in the direction of navigation and includes the distance to your destination. Routes can be planned via the Komoot or Outdooractive network. The display can also be fully customized to show speed, battery level, ride mode, etc.
Along with software upgrades, Bosch is making technical improvements such as stabilizing the Bluetooth coupling to improve functionality.
The new Kiox functions, compatible with all product lines from model year 2014, will be synchronized automatically as a software update from summer 2020 and can also be retrofitted at bicycle retailers.
Help Connect
Bosch is taking safety to the next level with its new Help Connect, which will notify emergency services in case of an accident through your smartphone by means of an intelligent COBI Bike app algorithm. Help Connect transmits the coordinates of the accident along with audible warning tones to alert any nearby first-aiders. The new feature
is also available for cars, motorcycles and smart homes and is available for iOS and Android.
