eNews – Mulo eCargo Bike Rental System Pilot Project Launches in Montréal

September 28, 2025 - A new e-cargo bike self-service rental system called Mulo launched a pilot project in Montréal with six Black Iron Horse units via the Canadian distributor Allo Velo, accessible in the borough of Rosemont – La Petite-Patrie.

The Mulo e-cargo bike share system is associated with coffee shops in Montréal’s Rosemont district: Café des Habitudes, Café Les Oubliettes, Noble Café, Café Larue and Fils, and the Épizode grocery store. This facilitates the removal and recharging of the batteries overnight, while users can also enjoy a coffee after their ride.

The new service can be accessed by downloading the app and creating an account. Fees are charged in 30-minute intervals: $5 for the first half hour and then $4 per every additional 30 minutes. If you wish to take a break you can pause the e-cargo bike for $1 per 15 minutes. There’s also a security deposit of $100 per cargo bike that can hold up to 110 kilos in the front box.

The brainchild of three Montréal residents, the Mulo pilot project will run from June to October and is the first system of its kind in Quebec.
