October 30, 2024 - In mid-August, New Zealand’s Tourism and Hospitality Minister Matt Doocey announced a funding initiative to establish e-bike charging stations for the country’s popular 23 Great Rides. This network of rides sees more than one million visitors annually, generating an estimated $1 billion in revenue.
Great Rides’ governance organizations must co-fund 50% of the purchase and installation costs, and determine how many e-bike charging stations to install in their respective regions. Applications for funding will be open for two months from August 18 to October 18, 2024.
