April 3, 2021 - Women in Cycling (WiC) was success-fully launched on February 24 as a new initiative by Cycling Industries Europe, the European Cyclists’ Federation, Velokonzept, Mobycon and CONEBI.
The key aim of WiC is to boost equality and diversity in the cycling sector by helping women get more visibility, impact and leading roles.
The digital launch event was headlined by Bonnie Tu, one of the most senior figures in the industry as the former CFO of Giant Bicycles and founder of Liv Cycling. Tu talked about her experience with one of the world’s largest cycling brands and launching a brand exclusively for women.
Over 800 participants worldwide joined in for the launch that featured a dozen or so inspirational speakers along with networking opportunities for participants to talk with peers.
The empowering platform for women includes a Women in Cycling Expertise Portal to create opportunities for networking, exchanging views and experiences, mentoring, training, jobs, board positions and collaborating on projects and initiatives that help achieve the organization’s vision.
