Giant Unveils New Trance X Advanced E+ Trail Bike Their First-ever Carbon eMTB

release by Giant

November 23, 2021 - Giant, the world’s leading brand of high-quality bicycles and cycling gear, unveiled the all-new Trance X Advanced E+, a versatile E-bike aimed at performance-minded trail riders. With its updated high-performance SyncDrive Pro motor paired with a lightweight, stiff and durable composite frameset and Maestro suspension system, along with fast-rolling 29-inch wheels, it’s the ideal all-rounder for a wide variety of terrain.

The new Trance X Advanced E+ is Giant’s first E-MTB built on a composite frame. It delivers a high-performance blend of progressive trail bike design and powerful motor technologies, along with key innovations including flip chip technology that lets the rider switch the frame geometry between two different settings.

Powerful and Responsive
The new SyncDrive Pro motor produces 85Nm of torque, delivering powerful pedaling assistance even at low speeds. This gives riders the ability to ride technical climbs and push their off-road adventures to a new level. The compact motor, co-developed with Yamaha, is significantly lighter than the previous generation and optimized to work with the Maestro suspension system.

The SyncDrive Pro powertrain offers SmartAssist technology, an automatic adaptive support mode. Instead of manually choosing a support mode (Power, Sport, Active, Basic or Eco), riders can opt to ride with SmartAssist, an intelligent system that uses six sensors and advanced algorithms to determine the optimal amount of pedaling support while riding variable terrain. SmartAssist also maximizes efficiency for both the battery system and the rider by always using the right amount of energy.

The lightweight and strong Advanced-grade composite frameset is built around the proven Maestro rear suspension system that delivers 140mm of smooth, active rear travel (with 150mm up front) for added traction and control on climbs and descents.

Adaptable to the Terrain
The new flip chip feature lets you change the head tube and seat tube angles, along with the bottom bracket height, to fine-tune handling for varying trail conditions and individual riding style. The low setting gives you slacker geometry that’s better suited to faster, more open terrain. The high setting offers steeper geometry and is recommended for tight, technical trails.
It’s a quick and easy adjustment using two-position flip chips and hardware.

In both settings, the geometry is designed to optimize the superior roll-over capabilities of 29-inch wheels. Boost hub spacing improves lateral wheel stiffness, and the frameset is engineered with plenty of clearance for high-volume tires up to 2.6 inches. Every Trance X Advanced E+ model comes with a Giant tubeless wheelset and tires set up right out of the box.

In addition, Giant’s SmartAssist technology uses six smart sensors that precisely measures the power being applied to the pedals so the motor can provide just the right amount of assistance to create a natural, powerful riding experience in all types of off-road terrain. This helps optimize energy efficiency for both the rider and the bike.

Clean Cockpit Controls
The new RideControl Go multi-function on/off button and RideControl Ergo 3 handlebar-mounted remote offer user-friendly controls and an uncluttered cockpit design. RideControl Go is located on the top tube, making it quick and easy to power on the E-bike and also change the motor settings.

The RideControl Ergo 3 is a new handlebar remote that can be mounted on the left or right side depending on your preference. Riders also have the option to add a second control, providing another three buttons. The buttons can be configured with the RideControl app to fully customize the controls. The controllers wirelessly connect with the app so that a smart phone can function as a display for ride data and system updates.

Another key upgrade with new Trance X Advanced E+ is its battery. The EnergyPak 625 is Giant’s most advanced battery system. Cleanly integrated into the downtube, it can charge up to 80 percent in just over two hours.

Beyond the new frameset and electronic updates, the new Trance X Advanced E+ includes a full set of components designed specifically for trail riding.

All models feature the Giant Contact Switch dropper seatpost with a handlebar remote that makes it easy to adjust positioning on the fly. Also included is the new Romero saddle, Giant’s first high-performance mountain bike saddle designed with an optimal shape, flexibility and comfort for trail riding.
