Global Research Shows Leading Barrier to Cycling is Riding Beside Cars – Build Protected Bike Lanes

September 2, 2022 - Riding a bike for transportation has been proven to be an effective way to improve the environment, health, and congestion, yet research shows that the leading barrier to cycling is having to ride alongside motor vehicles.

“While this review highlights the complexity of factors that influence the uptake of riding a bike for transport, many of the leading factors could be overcome through the provision of high-quality protected infrastructure for bike riders,” claims the UK’s Taylor and Francis Group report.
