IAA MOBILITY Unveils New Motto & Concept for 2023 Event Sept. 5-10 for Connected Mobility

release by IAA MOBILITY

November 2, 2022 - (Berlin/Munich) On September 5, 2023, the second edition of the leading mobility platform IAA MOBILITY will kick off in Munich. As the world’s most progressive platform for the future of mobility, sustainability and technology, it connects all companies active in the mobility ecosystem with each other – as well as with new target groups. The focus is on sustainable and intelligently connected mobility solutions. Under the new motto “Experience Connected Mobility,” the intelligent networking of vehicles and infrastructure will be brought to life at the IAA MOBILITY.

At the premiere of the new IAA MOBILITY 2021, the mobility show thrilled more than 400,000 visitors under difficult corona conditions and generated an unprecedented global reach for the topic of sustainable mobility. Next September, IAA MOBILITY aims to build on the success of 2021. The aim is to show what will move people tomorrow, from automobiles to micro-vehicles and bicycles to new solutions for public transport. Always in focus: sustainability and the technologies that will shape mobile life in the future. A foretaste of what this interplay will look like at IAA MOBILITY is provided by a selection of the exhibitors already confirmed. These represent the cross-sector approach of the leading mobility platform.

Thus, automotive manufacturers such as Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Renault, Porsche, Trasco or VW, leading suppliers such as Bosch, Brose Fahrzeugteile, Continental, Denso, ElringKlinger, MAGNA, KIRCHHOFF Automotive, Schaeffler or ZF; but also global tech companies such as Luminar or Qualcomm will present themselves; Micromobility manufacturers such as Stromer or Brose eBikes; energy suppliers and battery companies such as EnBW, CATL or Farasis Energy; electronics companies such as Hamamatsu Photonics; and exhibitors from the research sector such as the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft or the German Aerospace Center.

“With IAA Mobility 2021, we have successfully completed the transformation to a mobility platform. Our exhibitors will continue to present a range of connected and sustainable mobility solutions on this platform in 2023. Our goal is to make this global innovative power tangible for all target groups at the IAA MOBILITY – because an innovation is only established when it is used by the majority of society. At the same time, we want to promote discourse and active exchange between different stakeholders. That’s why we also very deliberately chose our motto for IAA MOBILITY 2023: Experience Connected Mobility,” says Jürgen Mindel, Managing Director of the Association of the German Automotive Industry (VDA).

Under the motto “Experience Connected Mobility,” the exhibitors and partners at IAA MOBILITY 2023 will present the diversity of a mobility of the future that brings people even closer together – sustainably, digitally and intelligently networked. Connectivity stands for a whole universe of possibilities for developing new mobility solutions, improving existing ones and making mobility as a whole safer, more convenient and more efficient. This transformation thrives on the close interaction of different modes of transport, companies from technology, IT, consumer electronics, telecommunications with manufacturers and suppliers of vehicles and micromobility. IAA MOBILITY is the global platform for this interaction.

“IAA MOBILITY is the living example of a successful transformation from a classic trade show to a forward-looking mobility platform,” explain Stefan Rummel and Dr. Reinhard Pfeiffer, who head Messe München GmbH as CEO duo. Stefan Rummel, the Managing Director responsible for IAA Mobility, adds, “In 2021, IAA MOBILITY clearly demonstrated how strong society’s interest is in sustainable mobility offerings. We are building on this and are delighted to have two strong partners at our side in the City of Munich and the Free State of Bavaria. In Munich’s city center – in Open Space and on the Blue Lanes – we will once again create places of experience that will inspire. And at the trade fair center in Riem, the IAA Summit, the global summit of mobility, will find a productive home.”

The formats of the IAA MOBILITY 2023

B2C: Open Space – Experience mobility where it happens

With the Open Space in Munich’s city center, IAA MOBILITY is creating places for everyone to experience mobility at Wittelsbacher Platz, Odeonsplatz, Marstallplatz, Königsplatz, Marienplatz, Max-Joseph-Platz as well as Ludwigstraße, Hofgartenstraße and the Residenzhöfe. The area is thus just as large as it was at last year’s IAA MOBILITY.

A total of 89 percent of Open Space 2021 visitors rated the format positively. At the IAA MOBILITY 2023, the aforementioned areas in the heart of Munich will once again demonstrate what the future of the event industry could look like. Thus, the Open Space is a festival site for sustainable mobility, a place for dialog and discussion, and a test area all in one. The perfect stage for urban mobility with user relevance and the place for dialogue between brands, initiatives and interested parties. Embedded between art and cultural offerings, food concepts and live entertainment, the Open Space offers the optimal experience space for the mobility of tomorrow.

As in 2021, all exhibition areas in the Open Space will be realized in a balance sheet-neutral manner. At the last IAA MOBILITY, 2,214 tons of CO² were offset in this way. Furthermore, the IAA MOBILITY would like to accompany the social discourse. Among other things, the Citizens Lab on Marienplatz will be a place for communicative exchange about mobility and living space development in the city and in the countryside.

B2B+: IAA Summit – The Global Mobility Industry Meeting for a Professional Audience
The IAA Summit is the obligatory meeting place for all major players and decision-makers in the mobility sector – from CEOs to young professionals and from developers to strategists.

With its B2B concept, the IAA Summit also invites decision-makers from politics and society as well as mobility enthusiasts and journalists to actively participate in the development of future-proof mobility.

As a center of dialog, manufacturers of all forms of mobility, suppliers as well as technology providers and startups come together. The core of the optimized hall concept is to network all suppliers with each other.

This means that IAA MOBILITY also presents the reality of mobility in its halls. OEMs from the automotive, tech and supplier industries, as well as from the bicycle and micromobility sectors networked thematically at the IAA Summit.

Due to the thematic diversity and cross-industry interest, the IAA Summit offers excellent opportunities for the development of relevant, new business relationships and future-shaping collaborations between diverse players. This symbiosis of mobility is the new guiding principle of the format. Integrated into it are various networking areas, curated partnership spaces and the IAA Conference.

At IAA MOBILITY 2021, more than 400 renowned speakers from all spectrums of mobility participated. For 2023, interested parties can participate in the Call for Content here. Thematically, the IAA Conference is based on the key themes of IAA MOBILITY 2023: Connected Mobility, Autonomous Mobility, Urban/Rural Mobility, Data & Next Level User Experience as well as Sustainable Mobility & Circular Economy and Smart City Infrastructure & Developing Livable Spaces.

In addition, the conference will be dedicated to the topics Cycling, LEV & Micromobility Solutions and EVs, Future Fuels & Charging. On September 4, the press day with the exhibitor press conferences will also take place at the IAA Summit. This is a guarantee of strong global coverage.

IAA Blue Lane – try out sustainable mobility
The latest sustainable mobility offerings can be tested at the IAA Blue Lane. At the last IAA MOBILITY, there were over 8,800 test drives in all vehicles. For 2023, the organizing team is planning four Blue Lane variants:

  • Blue Lane Road
This is a test track for zero-emission vehicles, starting in the Open Space or on the exhibition grounds. In addition, the exhibition grounds and Open Space will be connected by a bus transfer.
  • Blue Lane Underground
The existing subway line 2 between the trade fair grounds and Königsplatz will become the Blue Lane Underground during the trade fair.
  • Blue Lane Micromobility & Bike
Here you can test the latest models from the bike & micromobility sector over a distance of 15.5 km. It is located between Königsplatz and Messestadt. In addition, further test opportunities for micromobility will be created in the Open Space at the IAA MOBILITY 2023.
  • Blue Lane Future
New concept studies and technologies can be tested live for the first time at the exhibition center.
