Inaugural CargoBikeTO Meet Up at Withrow Park a Huge Success

September 28, 2021 - Toronto’s inaugural CargoBikeTO Meet Up on Sept. 19 at Withrow Park was a huge success and blessed with fabulous fall weather including sunshine and clear blue skies.

Smiles and camaraderie were the order of the day as 60+ attendees gathered for the debut event that saw a unique blend of cargo bikes both electric and acoustic from the likes of Riese and Muller, Tern, Urban Arrow, Babboe, Larry vs Harry, Yuba, Nihola, Trio, Wike, Muli, Bike Friday, Brompton, Winther and more.

Building community and sharing ideas, the event is also designed to invite newbies who want to learn more about cargo bikes and try out various models which was an active part of the afternoon activities – check out the great video via the link below.

The day prior on Sept. 25 several local bike shops in Toronto organized a Pedal Power Fair in the city to help people learn more about e-bikes and cargo bikes, with test drives etc.

In mid-August London Bicycle Café hosted a similar cargo bike meet up and this past weekend a hearty crew of 30+ riders made the first North Shore Cargo Bike Festival in North Vancouver a huge success as well – more coverage to follow.

Cargo bikes are a big part the current cycling boom for both personal and commercial use with Fedex, Purolator, DHL, Canada Post and many others on board as the urban landscape continues to change in favour of smarter and greener mobility solutions.

The CargoBikeTO Meet Up was organized by Janet Joy of the Toronto Community Bikeways Coalition, Robin Richardson of Happy Fiets Canada, and Dave Edwards of NRBI, with assistance from Curbside Cycle that provided some loaners. The plan is to make it an annual event.
