December 4, 2024 - CIE is celebrating a remarkable year of achievements, including the adoption of the EU Declaration on Cycling, recognition of our industry in the Mobility Transition Pathway, and the confirmation of billions of Euros flowing into cycling infrastructure across Europe thanks to our efforts.
With that momentum we already have many exciting new developments for CIE. We have launched a new expert group on bicycle leasing and formalized our leading role in the Women in Cycling network with a CIE expert group dedicated to the development of women’s roles in the industry. If you would like to join one of our expert groups, reach out to us at info@cyclingindustries.com to become a CIE member. In addition, we will be part of two new EU-funded consortia starting in January, further showcasing the strengths of our industry to government and academic partners.
CIE President Tony Grimaldi said: “I want to congratulate our staff team under the leadership of CEO Kevin Mayne for these successes and put on record the appreciation of our board for their expertise and professionalism.
As most of you know Kevin will retire at the end of this year. I want to use this email to inform you of our leadership arrangements as Kevin steps down. At very short notice our candidate to succeed Kevin as CEO of Cycling Industries Europe told us that he will not take up the post. This is due to a family issue which means he feels unable to take the position, a decision we must respect. With this information we will immediately be relaunching our search for a new CEO, with the objective of having someone in post around second quarter 2025. We are very confident that we will again attract a top-quality field of candidates due to the success and visibility we have in the industry and in Brussels.”
The CIE board has full confidence in the excellent staff team in Brussels. With several upcoming initiatives planned, CIE will strengthen its capacity by appointing two new staff members in early 2025, along with recruiting a CEO. Please keep an eye on our website for upcoming vacancies.
In addition, the CIE Board has appointed an executive committee which will consist of the President Tony Grimaldi (Cycleurope), Raymond Gense (PON) as Vice-President together with Malcolm Davies (Trek). They will be working with the staff team and expert groups to progress CIE’s agenda and induct the new CEO when appointed.
Warm regards,
The CIE Team
