June 4, 2024 - Minnesota is launching a $2 million e-bike rebate initiative on June 5 for applicants to access up to $1,500 depending on their income per qualifying e-bike, including accessories, becoming the second state in the USA after Colorado to launch such a program.
The two-year program by the Minnesota Department of Revenue will see the state will pay up to $2 million per year in both 2024 and 2025.
Designed to reduce the cost by 50-75% for Minnesota residents to buy a new e-bike at eligible retailers, the first round of rebate certificates will be distributed on July 1 to approved applicants who then have two months to use the certificate or it will expire.
If there is money left in the program after October 1, the state will issue more rebate certificates up to the $2 million limit. Minnesota hopes to assist up to 10,000 residents to help reduce pollution and fight climate change.
